On the banks of the Peel River and surrounded by the beauty of Northern New South Wales is where you’ll find the second largest inland city in NSW, Tamworth.
Tamworth is known for a lot of things including the Tamworth Country Music Festival, which is the second largest country music festival in the world by the way. It’s also known for the giant golden guitar and for being the first Australian location to utilise electric street lights.
And to get back on topic, it’s also home to some of the most beautiful wedding venues in the New England Region. You’ve got beautiful vineyards, rustic homesteads, function centres and stunning restaurants, all suitable for hosting your special day.
So, what are the best wedding wedding venues in Tamworth?
The Best Wedding Venues In Tamworth
If you’re local to Tamworth or travelling to this beautiful inland city for your wedding, there are a handful of gorgeous venues to choose from. Our curated list touches on some of the best venues in Tamworth and surrounding areas.
Goonoo Goonoo Station
A short 20 minute drive South of Tamworth centre will bring you to the restored 19th century heritage listed village and working cattle station known as Goonoo Goonoo Station. The station is one of New England and Tamworths most historical locations.
It’s available as a private wedding venue with capacity for up to 160 guests and room to accommodate up to 68, making it the perfect destination wedding venue. Additionally, there are multiple ceremony locations to choose from including the restored 1890’s chapel or amongst the beautiful landscaped parklands.

The Pavillion Function Center
The Pavillion Function Center, located just 10 minutes from the city centre, is one of the most popular wedding venues in Tamworth. It’s an award winning venue managed by the Central Hospitality Group.
The venue features multiple ceremony locations amongst the manicured gardens and also offers a beautiful reception space. And important to note, the venue can be hired out exclusively for your big day, offering the ultimate privacy for you and your guests.

Powerhouse Hotel
Part of the Rydges Group, The Powerhouse Hotel is another premier wedding venue in Tamworth. And with capacity for up to 280 guests, it’s also the most capable when it comes to larger weddings.
Unlike many other venues, The Powehouse Hotel has their own in-house wedding consultants and decorators who work with you to make sure every aspect of the day is magical. And, since it is a hotel, there’s also ample accommodation available for your bridal party and wedding guests.

The DAG Sheep Station
Interesting name, we know, but the DAG Sheep Station is an amazing wedding venue located on 70 acres of beautiful land in Nundle, an hour from Tamworth. Historically, the Sheep Station used to be a part of the Wombramurra Station, and so it features a historic woolshed, mess hall and shearers quarters.
The DAG offers 2 amazing ceremony locations of either the gardens which has the stunning woolshed as a backdrop, or the woolshed itself for a rustic covered ceremony.
Capacity: 106 guests
Springfield Woolshed
And lastly, we’ve got the Springfield Woolshed, a functioning cropping and cattle property located about an hour out of Tamworth on the Liverpool Plains.
The property had been operated by the same family since 1947 before one of the brothers restored the Woolshed for their own wedding in 2016. Since then, it’s been a popular wedding venue for Tamworth locals and visitors. It’s truly a rustic rural wedding venue with its authentic woolshed, beautiful timber interior and amazing scenic landscapes.
Capacity: 180 guests
Getting Married In Tamworth
While we’ve only featured five of the best wedding venues in Tamworth, it’s not a definitive list. There are many smaller venues including the Tamworth Golf Club, Tamworth Leagues Club and the Tamworth City Bowling Club, to name just a few.
If you’re planning a Tamworth based wedding, we’d recommend getting in touch with each of the venues you’re leaning towards and organise a walkthrough of the venue. This will give you the chance to get a feel for the location, envision yourself saying your “I Do’s” there and, perhaps most importantly, meet the owners and the team who’ll be there to support and celebrate you on the day.
